S1000D™ – Common Source Database Solutions
S1000D™ tm is an international specification for the procurement and production of technical publications for aerospace, defense and other major equipment applications. It was produced jointly by the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) and is rapidly gaining acceptance since data is captured in the form of reusable Data Modules that can be delivered in a wide variety of electronic formats, and traditional printed manuals.
In this approach technical data development projects require that a database be designed and populated with these reusable Data Modules that can be assembled into specific electronic documents on demand.
